Testimonials

  • Working with Global Impact Initiative has been one of the highlights of my professional growth. Anjum and the team were not only helpful, but genuinely thoughtful mentors who supported me every step of the way. I had the chance to develop opportunities for refugee communities, act as a bridge between organizations, and help create promotional content that showcased GII’s impact. As an intern coordinator, I gained confidence in leadership and delegation. Volunteering with the Refugee Sewing Collective was especially meaningful. I coordinated outreach and built community partnerships that helped boost the program’s visibility and support. I’m deeply grateful for everything I learned during my time with GII and would recommend the internship to anyone!

  • My experience with Gii has been one of the most meaningful parts of my journey. Through my work with the Refugee Bazaars and other Gii initiatives, I’ve learned what it means to create true impact through helping my community, bringing empathy, and constant new ideas. Throughout my time at Gii, Mrs. Anjum Malik has been an incredible mentor. Her vision, warmth, and drive have become an example for me to follow and shown me how leadership can be both caring and effective. Gii has changed how I view global citizenship and the difference I want to make in the world.

  • It has been such a rewarding experience working with Gii and our passionate team during the last 4 years. After serving as an intern at Alhambra US Chamber (Gii's sister organization) in 2021 shortly after finishing graduate school, I was recruited to be a coordinator at Gii. Since then, I have collaborated with a variety of individuals and organizations at both the local and global level, gained insight into non-profit business and operations procedures, and contributed to broader efforts to help immigrant and refugee communities thrive in our country's educational and economic landscape. This experience has been invaluable, and I would encourage anyone interested in this work to get involved. It's extremely gratifying being able to drive change in this space alongside a group of talented and determined humanitarians.

  • My experience as an intern with the Global Impact Initiative has been incredible. I learned so much by creating social media posts and updating slideshows to make curriculum clearer and more engaging. Some key projects I worked on included Instagram posts promoting donated baby items and highlighting refugee artwork. This internship helped me grow in a professional environment and strengthened my communication and creative skills. Everyone at GII was so kind, and my supervisor, Mrs. Sofia, was especially supportive. The environment is positive, generous, and guided by amazing leadership from Ms. Anjum. I’m truly grateful for this opportunity.

    -Priya Senthilkumar

  • My internship with Global Impact Initiative (GII) gave me the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that support refugee, immigrant, and underserved communities. Even while working remotely, I have been part of a supportive, collaborative team and gained experience in curriculum development, strategy, and project proposal writing for grant applications. This experience strengthened my skills and my commitment to a mission driven, community centered work.

  • I want to thank Isabel Wang and Margot Bellon of Bridging Tech, and Anjum Malik of the Global Impact Initiative for bridging the digital divide and empowering our at-risk high school students. Your mission to give our students laptops for learning during these times of crisis is so welcome. Your help changes the narrative for these students and helps them rise out of poverty through skill-building and job placement. Let’s continue to work together. I have taught in this at-risk environment for 15 years and have worked with the homeless and poverty-stricken youth. Thankfully this program from Stanford allows my students to surround themselves with Changemakers as they continue on their academic journey.
