“CapMetro and Global Impact Initiative (Gii), an Austin-based non-profit that provides education and workforce development programs to underserved communities, have entered into an agreement designed provide work opportunities to refugees and other marginalized populations in Central Texas.

Through Gii, refugees can complete an Entry Level Driver’s Training course to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License. Upon completion of this program, CapMetro will invite the trainees to apply for positions with CapMetro’s service providers. Starting rate will begin at $22 per hour. Employment is subject to the successful completion of the application and background check procedures.

Gii and CapMetro hope the agreement will not only fill full-time jobs in the Central Texas region, but also support those in our community who are looking for an opportunity to grow in their career.”
